• Both Kev and I had the day off yesterday so we hung out, Kev was feeling pretty lethargic from getting his second jab, so I helped by watching him take out the arms from the cresta. Great to see this car hopefully be back out on the road soon.
  • Ive lost track, I think it was about 4 months of lockdown, 4 months of no hangs. I always have the mindset that it could always be worse, but not having hangs was probably one of the hardest things about this lockdown. Not being able to see and interact with so many mates really takes a toll, was a good reflection on how important human interaction is, the conversations, even just the presence it all plays a part, especially in such a internet dominated world and feeling very divided, being able to see some of the best people I know finally was nothing short of a happy moment, seeing some of the cars that were built during lockdown was a treat and a bonus. Especially Chris’ car, that is one car I think everyone wanted to finally see in the flesh, and especially him previously owning it and repairing the damage, its a pretty special car.

As weird as it sounds, lockdown did have some positives to it, one being how important human interaction is, I’ve gained more of an appreciation for it from going through the adversity of being limited to it. Over the last 8 or so years these hangs have been going, so many friendships have formed as it has grown, the cars are often just a bonus that comes with it but its the first piece of the puzzle that’s needed. Now all that is left is for regional travel to open up so we can go do some drifting !

  • Reading posts like this a couple of years ago, are what use to get me so motivated and excited. So on a night where he and I had nothing on, we decided to put the motor in. The motor is a stock small port 4age 16v, which for a corolla, its more than enough, plus having a j160 behind it is a perfect combo, just makes it a c**t to put in(thanksssss kevvvvvvv)

omg lets do a silly one

Seeing this start to take shape is exciting, in a lot of ways it reminds me of my own car, and not just because its red, well mainly that haha, I’m just so grateful to be able to help, even though I have my own self doubts constantly lingering in my head, but even with that being able to have these hangs, putting cars together, having a laugh are moments ill forever cherish.

  • Bought my first set of Hayashi streets almost 4 years ago, not often do 13×7 -6 come up for sale, so I had to have them. Bought another pair eventually but they were a +6 pair. Hated how they sat, so like most things I sold them off to fund other parts.

I recently bought those slot mags to complete my set, I thought id buy another pair of wheels to save on shipping, I’ve been wanting mk2′ for long now. I had a set on my old ke70, and have wanted another set since, to the point I regret getting August feroce made haha. Unfortunately nothing good came up so I finalised the shipping. Fast forward to that afternoon, I log on to the computer to check yahoo, a pair of 13×7 -6 streets came up for an unbelievable buy now price, which means my set will be complete !

  • 2 weeks of isolation done, can’t complain as it could always be worse, was good to be able to get out of the house though. Decided to spend my new found freedom by going to pickup some parts I had at a few friends’ house. Grabbed a coffee and headed over to Jesse’ place to pick up my ae86 centre console I bought, saw a friend in old run it in their ke70 and it fit perfect so I decided to do the same. Was great to see Jesse as none of us have seen each other in quite a while. Rolled on over to Kevs to pick up a pair of Kenwood speakers I bought from Daniel. One thing I have always regretted is taking out the sound system Jesse had put in the car, I miss it, so I’ve decided to put it all back in, luckily the wiring is all still there.

Look pretty cool, made a template out of cardboard to make a parcel shelf on the weekend. Still need to order some speakers for the front and a headunit.

the centre console, no photos in the car yet, needs a good clean and need to take out my old fire extinguisher mount that’s in the way.

To finish a photo I took the other week. Cars out of rego atm, they’ve put a hold on renewing conditional registration as they’ve deemed it none essential, which is fine as there’s no where to go. Either way, there’s plenty to do on the car which I’m excited about.

  • Being stuck in isolation hasn’t been too bad, got a we’ll deserved break from work, catch up on some painting work and build some models, so all in all it could have been worse. Chris dropped off this sr20 rocker cover and manifold the other week, I had almost finished it then went into iso, which was a good thing cause I re designed the breeze logo to something better, pretty excited to see the motor and car come together, and from this job should come some more exciting jobs from some serious cars!

  • For a long time I have enjoyed seeing slog mags on street rods, bit of a timeless street rod look, the design is simple and works with all this I thought it could be a cool look on a corolla. I enjoy street rods and would love to one day build one, but for the time being I wanted to incorporate that flavour to my car, I had a few photos of corollas in Japan with the same wheels, only in 14 inch. Set out and that night I managed to find a full set, two were the size I wanted and the other two were too small, but they were priced too well to pass up and they’re cool garage art. (Cheers Andy)

2 months later, they arrived and are in great condition, loaded them up in my trusty hilux and got some tyres fitted.

Fit pretty good, they measure up 13×7 +2.5. will chuck on a 10mm slip on to fill the guards out a bit more, pan hard rod needs adjusting too. Finally after about a month of searching, found another pair that are the same size, won the bid. Hopefully be here soon enough !
